Comments Thread For: Petrov Routs, Carcamo For Boxcino 135 Lb. Top Honors

tr Petrov completed his career resurrection, knocking out Fernando Carcamo early in round eight of their Boxcino lightweight tournament finals Friday evening at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York.

The official time was 0:40 into the 8th round of their ESPN2-televised main event.

Petrov made a subtle adjustment in the opening round to dominate the rail thin Carcamo, who was rumored to struggle to make weight and was manhandled over the course of the evening. The fight was never competitive, with Carcamo's energy draining through each passing round. [Click Here To Read More]

Serious controversy going on in Carcamo's corner about quitting the fight.

Carcamo punches slower than a sloth yawns. He was getting waxed by the Russian. He needs to go back to Mexico and box taxi cab drivers and drunks that have been thrown out of bars.

Pretty one sided fight, Carcamo had nothing on Petrov. I'm kind of bummed that Petrov was matched against his countryman Papazov in the opening bout of the tournament. Papazov deserved to make the finals since he was the 2nd best in the tournament right behind Petrov.

1 sided win...he impressed & what impressed me more was his last bout beating a very good/undefeated Chris Rudd...

Teddy Atlas seemed confused and he could not figure out what exactly was wrong with Carcamo. I thought it was simple, he simply got outclassed by a much better fighter. As far as Petrov is concerned he looks like the real deal. However, his lack of power looks as if it has really hurt his career.

Petrov should get another title shot. The first one didn't go so well.

I would like to see Petrov vs Vazquez. It would be a bored fight but both of them are strategist with no heavy hand so I think is a good match-up.

Very impressive performance by Petrov. He fought a perfect fight. His offense was dynamic as he mixed up body and head punches, he moved well and kept a tight defense. He fought smart as he slowly picked apart Carcamo throughout the whole fight. Nice win and very entertaining
