Comments Thread For: DeGale: If Froch Doesn't Change, Groves Beats Him

Unless IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch is able to adjust, James DeGale believes his amateur and professional rival George Groves will come out victorious on May 31st at Wembley Stadium.

Last November, Groves dropped Froch in the first round and then won most of the first six rounds. Froch came back in the second half and scored a controversial ninth round TKO victory, which promoted a high fan demand for a rematch.

Froch can't change. It's too late.

Groves crumbled surprisingly fast as soon as Froch started landing, that told me all I need to know about this rematch. It's not about change, it's about Froch needing to establish sooner which I'm fully expecting.

How though? He can't. Groves is much faster so he's always going to be quicker out of the blocks. Froch's best chance is in the later rounds when Groves starts to lose steam but he's going to have to ship an awful lot of punishment in that time.

Degale should worry more about his fight vs Gonzalez. He should have gotten a new coach, but I guess it is too late to change lol.

If he utilizes the jab as well as he did in the Kessler rematch, the process should start sooner. It was his lack of respect for Groves that had him down and shocked in the proceeding rounds. I expect things to be a little different with Groves crumbling sooner.

Diggler's being surprisingly objective on this upcoming rematch.

Somehow it seems Groves is becoming the favorite in peoples mind the closer we get to fight night.

I personally don't buy that he lacked respect for Groves. He utilised the jab well against Kessler because he had much longer arms and Kessler is a straight up and down fighter. Very little lateral movement and not all that fast.

Groves is just too fast for Froch early. If he tries to stand off him and jab him, he'll get beaten to the punch because he's slower and Groves arguably has a better jab anyway. If he tries to bum rush Groves, he'll get countered. It's a lose-lose.

Groves is just a horrible style match for Froch and the only way I can see Carl winning is if he does what he did in the first fight which is take a ****load of clean shots before coming on late. I just don't think he can afford to do that again and Groves finishes it this time.

Froch underestimated Groves in the first fight. I think he will adjust as the other guy here says and show Groves who's the BOSS.
