Schaefer probably does have a non-compete clause in his contract - but I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that the non-compete clause only takes effect in the event that Schaefer quits.

You might be right, but that's also probably why hoyA will hit him with a lawsuit before he does anything.

It's not going to be easy for rich to explain why it was a good business decision to allow all of haymons fighters on a short contract, or no contract, with GBP.

terrific logic you got there einstein.
The Swiss banker took GBP from nothing to the #1 promotional outfit in boxing, Genius. And most of its fighters are *under contract* to Al Haymon who is almost universally recognized as the most influential individual in boxing AND is an ally of Richard Schaefer. All the while, de la Hoya was cross dressing and crack smoking.

So yes, if Schaefer leaves, Golden Boy is finished.

My question would be, how does de la Hoya sue Schaefer without suing GBP? Schaefer is the CEO and, IIRC, a shareholder of GBP.

                    No they weren't.

Of course. Can't stop someone from working if you fire them. I still would be shocked if that happens and it appears to me that Schafer is trying to leave, not Oscar is trying to fire him.
