It's kinda true for the most part. And this is the problem with a lot of posters on here. They don't read for anything! It's amazing too because many of the articles about this was featured first on BoxingScene.

But at the same time, it's understandable why some of the more elite fighters were rejecting Thurman when they did.

Team Maidana Reject Thurman Fight: Explain The Issues

BoxingScene.com ran a story on Saturday where hard hitting Marcos Maidana’s fight with Keith Thurman, which was rumored to have fallen apart, was still being negotiated between Golden Boy Promotions and Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi. While Contursi and Golden Boy are indeed still in negotiations, it’s not for a possible Thurman fight for Maidana. Rather they are negotiating to find a replacement opponent for the Argentina native.

“That fight was going to be in July and then the name [Keith] Thurman appeared which was a name we did not know. To me particularly, and not just me, nobody liked the idea because the truth is Thurman is a guy who’s really a super welterweight...
"We told Golden Boy that we didn’t want the fight. We want a tuneup. Is that a tuneup? All big name fighters take tune ups. And when they do tuneups, do they do them against a 17-0 opponent with 16 knockouts and a super welterweight?” asked Contursi as he referred to the 5’11 Thurman.

Just look at Schaefer's comments before HBO banned them, he was saying that they better step up and offer Broner a huge contract or else HBO would lose him. This coming off so many mismatches for Broner. HBO finally sobered up.
This. Haymon used some sort of voodoo curse to convince HBO's execs to pay out the gills for bum fights featuring his C class manufactured stars like Broner and Berto. Then they cleared house, got rid of Greenburg, righted the ship. Now Haymon and his nonsense is Show's and Golden Boy's problem... one that Oscar is now keen to fix, as he too finally sobered up.

Stevenson was unhappy with HBO's offer before he brought in Haymon. Haymon was brought in to try and get Stevenson more money. And he did his job very successfully. I don't know what you mean with GGG and Quillin. As far as Mayweather goes Floyd hired Schaefer in 09 to negotiate with Arum on his behalf. So I don't see where Haymon is at fault there either.

There is a lot of blame to go around to why the sport is kind of ****ed, it was ****ed before GBP even existed it might be a bit more ****ed currently it really has only continued further down the path it was already on.

HBO used to get a ton of heat when they were actually doing a ton more boxing, so it is interesting to see they get very little now even though they are a big part of the problem.

And here is another rejection, but by Robert Guerrero.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that Robert Guerrero (31-2, 18KOs) has turned down a proposed fight with undefeated WBA interim-welterweight champion Keith Thurman (21-0, 19KOs). Schaefer was hoping to make that fight for a date in November. However, one fighter who is very interested in facing Thurman is Jesus Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18KOs).

And here is Malignaggi arguing with Thurman and schooling him about why he's uninterested in fighting Thurman once upon a time.

How many fighters do GBP have? Who else ducked Thurman?

Golden Boy has lots of fighters. Do not believe the gossip.

Shawn Porter is not so interested in Thurman either, or at least his father isn't. His father was saying Porter isn't fighting Thurman unless it's for a lot of money, and unless Floyd Mayweather is guaranteed immediately afterwards if they beat Thurman. And he also says to let Thurman clean up the division on the other side, and they clean up the other side, and fight way later on.

                    It begins around 13:17

So I'm right. GBP has become a safe haven for ducks. Tell Thurman to sign up with TR. The trio Provo, Alavarado, Rios would gladly take the opportunity no matter what the odds are.
