kovalev was ready to fight stevenson after the silakh fight. it was seen as a semi final card (kovalev vs silakh & stevenson vs bellew), and we all remember the reaction from stevenson after kellerman mentioned kovalev... he started talking about froch

Stevenson went to where the money is. At Showtime.
Nobody is ducking Kovalev. Kovalev is nobody to duck.
If Kovalev was half as good as people think he is then Al Haymon would have
signed him long ago. And he would not be with Kathy Duva and Main Events.
Stevenson has arguably beaten better opponents than Kovalev has, and he has arguably displayed more skill and better movement in the process. To call Stevenson a coward is pure ignorance. Cowards do not usually go back into battle against a man who had previously knocked them out. Cowards do not decide to fight for a living in the first place. Cowards just sit at their computer
and call a spade a spade.

HBO has the bigger budget but apparently Showtime was willing to offer Stevenson more money. Go figure.

Showtime offered more money for the Fonfara fight. Ultimately, Steveson will make more money fighting Kovalev on HBO than Hopkins on Showtime.
