I don't know if he sparred with him or how it went if he did but a top contender holding his own with Direll would be expected. I doubt if Direll will ever be important in boxing again.

When Dirrell was trying to get back into shape they sparred. Heard it was pretty even. Giving someone a black eye in sparring isnt a good indication of how well they did in sparring. Just means they landed a nice punch right on target.

Sparring isn't really a good indicator of your progression, because some guys are awesome gym fighters and suck in actual fights and vice versa.
And some guys just see sparring as a chance to test things out while other guys try to "win"

I only put value into sparring tales if one guy was utterly dominated/outclassed and it spread like wildfire

And Dirrell did beat Froch. Close but clear.

              Exactly!!!

I can't stress enough on that point. I too prefer technical sparring and a hard session/round once in a while to conclude the day/week.

Stop saying this, it is like the 5th time you said this in the thread and it literally means nothing. How many times has the guy who won a fight looks worse than the guy who lost. It happens all the time.

As far as Froch-Dirrell, it was one of the most pathetic fights I've ever seen, I wish both guys could have lost. Dirrell ran and hugged like a woman and still managed to look better than Froch who looked lost and had zero form or technique. He also fought ridiculously dirty and I'm pretty sure was never even warned. If Dirrell would have stepped on the gas earlier than the last 3 rounds he prob would have won. How it stands, the fight could have gone either way, they both ****** that night. Better that Froch won bc he at least has done something with his career since

He was able to hurt early and still chose to run marathon.
