Oscar could do that, but Mayweather is on his way out anyway. His deal w/Showtime is locked in, and Oscar doing something like that could set a very bad president for those fighters on his roster who may be future stars. Canelo is already set up to be the next PPV star, and beating Lara cements that, but outside of Canelo, we don't know who he has exclusivity over. He needs to do what he's doing, don't rock the boat, and ride it out. I believe Richard has set the company up nicely, and if he can reestablish a working relationship with Arum post Floyd, then good for him.Not sure, but I mean that fight-by-fight basis that Schaefer has GBP doing all Mayweather's fights on...Oscar could conceivably put a stop to it.
And heck, if he really wants to hurt Mayweather and patch things up with Arum, he and Arum could always put on a joint pay per view with Canelo and Chavez Jr. on the same card the same night as Mayweather's next fight.Comment

We may all remember that Froch wanted a Chavez Jr. fight in Vegas... I guess that Arum also remembers this, in case Froch wins on Saturday...
What I'm sure: Jr. doesn't fight Golovkin or Ward...
What I'm pretty sure: Arum will not allow a Jr.-Bika fight unless Jr. signs the extension contract.
Am I wrong?Comment

It all depends, the best thing for Canelo is probably to go back to HBO.Oscar could do that, but Mayweather is on his way out anyway. lol floyd's ppv actually suffers without a mexican star for opponent or undercard even when he fights on mexican holidays.
floyd-jmm (mexican) = good numbers
floyd-mosley had canelo for undercard = ppv success
floyd-ortiz with canelo and eric morales = ppv success
floyd-cotto with canelo (not needed but still it helped) = ppv success
floyd-guerrero (no canelo or any mexican star) = flop
floyd-canelo = very successful
floyd-maidana with no mexican support = flopLast edited by brick wall; 05-21-2014, 03:14 PM.Comment

I think he'd be a bigger pay per view entity on HBO...especially if matched against some Top Rank opponents, as Top Rank is better at marketing to the Mexican/Hispanic audience in part because of it's roster.
We'll see if the Lara ppv matches the Angulo numbers.Comment

That doesn't "hurt" Mayweather. His fight deal is guaranteed, he'll make his 30+ million regardlessNot sure, but I mean that fight-by-fight basis that Schaefer has GBP doing all Mayweather's fights on...Oscar could conceivably put a stop to it.

He'd make his SHO guarantee...but he wouldn't make much, if anything, on the pay per view upside.
Not that it's gonna happen...Canelo isn't going to fight in July and come back in September...and he's not going to do it on a Top Rank Card.Comment
