Yeah RJJ was past his best when Joe beat him, but everyone knows RJJ was juiced up to his eyeballs in his prime and so wasn't a natural fighter. Even against a juiced up RJJ i still think Calzaghe has too much for him, too intelligent and RJJ fought nobody like him. A lot of people on here cant see past their hate to make a logical unbiased opinion.

I find it laughable people think Hopkins won against Joe, he used negative tactics throughout and just tried to spoil and fake low blows etc.

    Calzaghe UD.
Roy juiced to gain weight for Ruiz. What would be the point for juicing up at SMW? Drugs don't make your reflexes better. But HW Jones is irrelevant to the topic.

Despite being a great fighter, Joe was always easy to hit. Always. Especially with right hands.

        Calzaghe UD.
Joe would never have fought Roy in his prime.

People are angered by Joe's win over Roy, because on THREE separate occasions, Joe said a fight would be pointless because Roy was past his best. Roy was 3-3 in his previous 6, and he hadn't had a top level win for 5 years.

In 1999, Joe said that he wasn't chasing Roy, as he didn't want tough fights.

In 2003, Joe then said that he thought he could give Roy his greatest ever fight, but he'd want the 'Crown ***ells' to take it, due to the element of risk involved.

If Joe had seriously wanted Roy, he'd have moved to LHW and gone to the U.S. much sooner than he did. The truth is, he was more than content to keep defending his lightly regarded WBO belt at SMW.

Regarding an actual fight, how could anyone have favoured Joe? As great as he was, he was always easy to hit. Even in his prime, he was dropped by Kabary Salem and Byron Mitchell.

Look at who possessed the best attributes:

        Stamina - Joe

        Chin - Joe

        Work rate - Joe

        Speed - Roy

        Defence - Roy

        Accuracy - Roy

        Timing - Roy

        Power - Roy

        Reflexes - Roy

        Punch variation - Roy

Who did Joe ever fight who was on Roy's level?

Joe would have been facing a guy who was faster than him, who had more skill, and who hit harder, and who was harder to hit.

You have more confidence than Joe ever did. There was a reason why he fought Roy just weeks from his 40th birthday.

There's no evidence Roy juiced to fight Ruiz.

He went up to HW with the help of Mackie Shilstone, who'd taken Michael Spinks up to HW to fight Larry Holmes. After he'd worked with Roy, he also helped Bernard Hopkins move up to LHW to fight Antonio Tarver.

          • Roy knocks him down once every round until it's stopped or Roy wins like 120-96.

              • Calzaghe UD. Calzaghe will lose a few early rounds then will takeover to win on points. Roy Jones never liked to fight someone who would keep the fight in close range with high work rate. Prime or not.

                Ask John Scully

I remember ROYCOTT. You can always look great when you ain't fighting anyone.

                  Take over?

Against a 25/26 year old version of Roy?

                  Ha!

                  It's a fantasy.

Roy didn't fight anyone? Oh dear.
