HBO does not have a contract with GGG, just as they do not have a contract with Pacquaio. If HBO had a contract with Pacquaio, he would not have been allowed to fight Mosley on Showtime (remember that fight?). GGG is free to fight on either HBO or Showtime. He chose to fight on HBO. That is why Schafer suggested a bidding contest. GGG's team turned it down likely because they were concerned that Showtime would outbid HBO.

Bad analogy but whats new when dealing with flo mos. Pac only fights on ppv, with guarantees made by Arum via ppv projections, not by Hbo. Ggg purse is covered by Hbo.HBO does not have a contract with GGG, just as they do not have a contract with Pacquaio. Actually Golovkin does have a multi fight contract with HBO, same with Kovalev. This is not a pacquiao situation (totally different circumstances).HBO does not have a contract with GGG, just as they do not have a contract with Pacquaio. GGG does have an exclusive contract with HBO, just like Sergio Martinez. Schaefer countered with Showtime knowing damn well HBO wasn't going to let this happen. What do you expect K2 to do? Ask HBO to break the contract so it can bidding war where they will most likely need to spend more money? HBO would never allow that. It's ****** and Schaefer knows thisHBO does not have a contract with GGG, just as they do not have a contract with Pacquaio. Here's a couple sources proving HBO has exclusive rights in North America not just the USA.

That literally changes nothing, they don't own his rights to fight in or out of the country they own all television rights in the country. No matter where the fight takes place, it can not be shown on any other television channel other then HBO. That's why his Adama fight was broadcasted in like 300 countries but not the US. Once HBO said they weren't going to broadcast it, no one else had the opportuinty to. HBO is the only channel that can show his fights in the US no matter where the fight takes place.Comment

If GGG has a contract for broadcast on North American soil why would they go to the purse bid? And give all that money to Showtime (which apparently has lost money on TBE)?
Quillin isn't as popular as GGG. Like Miguel Cotto, Golovkin is class A in this fight.Comment
