All HBO has now is GGG in a sense. They promote the hell out of him, while Quillin as a plethora of stars to compete with over at Showtime. He's eating over there, so I wouldn't go over to HBO either. I think Showtime will give them more money, but thats impossible due to GGG's exclusivity contract

GGG/Geale would be so great. Quillin gets sparked out in 5 rounds IMO.

It is simple folks. Al and Richard simply do not want to see one of their belt holders get beat up on a Network where they have no standing and no guarantees.

It makes more sense for them to Hold on to Quillin for Lara or Canelo. They are not ******, but they are assuming everyone else is.

I would be very surprised if Danny Jacobs even gets a crack at quillin. At least until he signs with Al also. Then that may happen.

Quillin already said that he won't fight Lara because he is Cuban. I wonder if a Quillin/Cotto fight could be made?

I don't blame Schaefer as he's just trying to get the best deal possible. That's what promoters do.

But at the same time if he's really serious about making this fight he would swallow his pride and let Quillin fight against GGG on HBO.

I thought we all knew Golovkin has an exclusive contract with HBO?

Why do you think nobody else could show it in the States?

Is this something we're just pretending isn't real or we ignoring this on purpose?

Middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin was boxing’s breakout star of 2013.The new darling of HBO’s boxing franchise drew 1.41 million viewers for his Nov.

They broadcasted 4 fights in a year and a half too after his dismal debut if you wanna talk loyalty
                  I'll just add on.

Let's forget for a second that GGG has an exclusive contract with HBO.

You can't demand a purse bid when the two fighters involved are not on equal playing fields.

While both are undefeated and champions, GGG is clearly the bigger star, brings in the much better ratings and headlines cards, whereas Quillin gets buried in the undercard and has never headlined a card before. Therefore GGG team gets to call the shots.

Purse bids made sense in fights with Vanes-Lara and Lomo-GRJ, because all the parties involved were equal playing fields.

That's not the case here. I think GGG's manager alludes to that.

Well purse bids are ordered by the belt organizations to have their top contender fight the champ. It kind of different here and Schafer made an offer that they knew GGG would refuse

                      You may be right.

It appears that Schafer was trying to fool GGG's team into getting in a bidding war. But he has to know that he can't dictate the terms for this fight because his fighter is not on the same level. If he's serious and understands Quillin's value, he knows that they have to fight on HBO if they ever want a chance. I guess we'll know in a couple weeks when Schafer makes one of his statements to boxingscene. If he truly believes that this fight requires a bid then imo that is a ducking tactic on his part.
