I'm not sure if Beristain would still advise Marquez against the Khan fight but it's possible he might feel Marquez is ready for Khan at this stage of his career, especially considering he may also not have many years left in big fights so why not go for the biggest possible fights. Marquez and Khan both looked terrific in their last fights and it'd be a great match up.
For those who are unaware about Marquez / Beristain avoiding the Khan fight back in 2010 here's the quote (so no trolls in the thread trying to rewrite history and pretend as if they didn't avoid Khan):
If they don't avoid Khan this year, who wins?

Beristain goes on to say that Marquez "asked me to go with him to Los Angeles to work on the deal for his next fight, that his people (Golden Boy Promotions) want to match him with (Amir) Khan, but I told him that's not a fight to be taken lightly, as he (Khan) is very strong, and it's not a good fight right now, because he (Marquez) has not fully recovered from the Mayweather fight, which was just brutal."
"(Marquez) should look for a different opponent, one in his own weight class, and he should not be exploited again. Khan is a junior welter and that's where they want to make the fight; I think Juan Manuel deserves to bow out like a true champion, and not by being anyone else's stepping stone."
