He can make another $7 million fighting Cotto/Martinez winner, another $7 to $10 million against Ward. That adds up to a total of $36-39 million for three fights. Throw in another $7 million against GGG and it adds up to $43-46 million for four fights.

He has absolutely no reason to stay with Arum.
He can do all of that with the EXTENSION which he doesnt want.

Only problem with that is that he DOES have the Chavez name, to the tune of generating, being conservative, $10m-$15m on his next fight. If his name wasn't Chavez, do you honestly think that Top Rank would be so desperately trying to lock in as many fights as possible?

Golden Boy still has Periban and Bika, with friendly enough relationships with other promotional outfits to likely have access to most of the top super middleweights on the planet, none of which, sans Chavez Jr, who even fight under the Top Rank banner.

Pretty sure that Golden Boy could easily make the same money, at least, that Top Rank was projecting, with an open willingness to better split the money with their name fighters. lol

All I see is you attacking Chavez. This kid just pulled a major power move on the biggest promoter. Him out of all people just rained on Arum's parade. Do you realize that?
Not really because Arum has fights going on this weekend and Chavez is sitting at home on his ass not making nothing. All for making your worth but if Arum says until 2015 then it's probably 2015. And Chavez going to Showtime is different from Bradley. Who's Chavez going to fight at Goldenboy and Showtime? BHOP at 175 or Stevenson?with HBO he has a multitude of fights at 168. It's a business on both sides. Chavez has a right to do whatever he wants and so does Arum.. He made an offer he rejected. Some of you guys let your love for one person spew your hate for another. Arum is going to do what's best for his business as Chavez is. Arum has dealt with a lot with Chavez from drugs, to not making weight and suspensions. I would have an offer to protect my interest too it's called good business.

But isnt it in the best intrest for Chavez Jr to stay with Arum given that HBO has big fights for Chavez down the line that can pay big money. He can fight Ward, Pascal in Canada, Froch or Kessler in Europe or even Kovalev. These fights can all do decent numbers.
HBO, unless I'm missing somethings, isn't exclusive to Bob Arum/Top Rank and Chavez isn't exclusive to them either. He may miss out on the fight with Ward and Kovalev, as both guys are exclusive to HBO, but none of the other fights mentioned would be prevented due to him not re-signing with Top Rank.

Chavez vs Bika[GBP], Chavez vs Froch/Groves[Matchroom], and pretty much Chavez vs. the field, depending on who has an exclusive HBO deal locked in, since HBO has shown themselves not willing to go beyond their lower budget, in putting on fights.

Ward and Kovalev are out, but I don't see how anyone else gets excluded.

Fool Im not biased for or against Arum or Chavez. I never said he would get rewarded for leaving Arum. Its just him not falling for the extension trick where the promoters adngle a fight over your head ONLY if you resign. Ghost and Bradley fell for it. Arum looks shocked. The fighter got one over the suit and its impressive.
