If he wins, Lacy needs to clean up 168, THEN he can say give me more money. Until then, you gotta be kidding.
The public in general decides if he makes the big money fights, not 'hardcore' boxing fans. You can already see his popularity growing by the ESPN superbowl commerical spot and various other things.. just because most deep boxing fans don't think he's had any decisive fights yet, means nothing as to whether or not the public will accept him and want to see him. It's not a case of Kessler not being worthy of a fight, it's that Jeff Lacy is a name now in the 'general' boxing publics eye, whether you like it or not diego. And a fight with Tarver (who the public also knows) would easily sell better than a fight with a virtually unknown Mikkel Kessler.

BTW, Jeff's not the type of guy to say "give me more money", even you know that.

Of course it would sell better because people know TARVER. Lacy is not a name yet, although they are trying to market him as one. Boxing is in a sad state right now when you consider the biggest names involved are Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, and Arturo Gatti. I'd say Hopkins and Jones, but they are both virtually finished. Tarver will be an even BIGGER name after he beats Hopkins. That is why a fight with Lacy will sell, not because Jeff Lacy is involved, but because Tarver is numero uno in boxing hoy en dia.

I think your underestimating the number of people that know Lacy, plus you also have to take into consideration Lacy's popularity will grow more assuming he wins next saturday.

Saying the fight would be marketed simply because of Tarver is ******.

I'm saying as of now it would. Of course he'll be a bigger name if he stops Calzaghe. He'll be an American hero when the USA is in a period of looking for its face as a fighter.

Well if that's true, it's good then. That's what I'm talking about. He'll get his shot if he is really that impressive.

But do you nonestly believe Lacy and Calzaghe is too scared of Kessler? That's JUST ****I'N dumb. Some people have the habbit of insulting and pulling down other fighters just to make their fighters look good. ****** remarks.

You can make an argument that they are not "scared" of him. Do they really wanna fight him? That's an other question. The kid is tuff. At this point fighting him isn't worth the effort for what they'd get back.

In an ideal wold this might be true.

In the real world looking as promissing as Kessler - COMBINED with being unknown to a wider audience, is more likely to ensure that Kessler WON'T get the big fights.

A guy like Lacy MIGHT want to fight Kessler. But behind Lacy is a guy called Shaw, who is by every account a shrewd businessman. He's gonna steer Lacy in other directions.

As for Calzaghe - he's allready made it clear he's got no intention of facing Kessler

My point is, Lacy doesnīt want to fight a guy to whom he could loose. Not unless he would be really well payed. Kessler would not be able to present the payoff. Kessler made an offer before, when Calzaghe pulled out for a moment, he would pay the same 1mill$ as he wanted to get for going to the US. - Now why wouldnīt he do that? A WBA belt is worth something? could it be the risk didnīt apeal to him for that kind of money?

                  I think so..

But hey, what do you guys think. What line up should Kessler face in the future, before the reaches the status he would need not to be ignored?

                    Combined with being unknown?

You didn't get the whole story. I was already saying he won't get that big fight if he is not known in U.S. The other guy said HBO is contacting him and will bring him to U.S. . . . and so I was saying good. Because if it's HBO who will support and promote Kessler then he'll have the chance to make it big if he keeps winning. If that happens I don't think Lacy can deny him a fight.

                    Got it?
