I think, technically, it was "bringing the sport into disrepute" as the fans turned BIG TIME against the incident, called for the JBC to kick the IBF out of Japan and seemed set to refuse to trust the boxing industry. It was a big incident and stoked up a lot of anger.

You're probably right on the straw that broke the camels back effect but it was one damned big straw.
