So now the GGG fans are ducking Ward for him? I thought after the Chavez debacle he was going back down to 160, this team is a bunch of opportunists. Real fighters want to fight and beat the best to be called the best, and get off the monkey see monkey do bandwagon about how boring Andre Ward is. What is boring about Andre Ward? The man takes all of your weapons away then beats the fight out of you - learn the sport you guys claim to love, I think you guys like street fighting where there is usually a bully(GGG) and someone who has heart but knows he cannot win, so he just lays down eventually - GTFOH

No one wants to fight the "bully kid" because they are usually afraid of him. Stop making a fool of yourself, none of those guys wants to fight Ward because they feel they can't win. If GGG was confident he could win, what better way to enter the 168 division and send chills through everyone's spine. Until he fights Ward, this is a clear duck!!!!

If Ward was really interested in Golovkin, I'm sure he'd have made a play for the July date.

Wow .... a lotta excitement for Ward vs GGG. I genuinely think that Golovkin's a great fighter but a lotta folks just seem to assume that he just rolls over the entire SMW division and that the only competitve fight out there is Andre Ward - guess the hype is working after all. smh.

Ward better kiss and make up with Goosen and ask him to finally shoot an offer over to K2 rather than just Dre slinging a few soundbites.

FWIW as pointed out, Kessler ain't fighting anyone yet, as of now Geale's looking like the frontrunner for July. Both would be really good opponents IMO (Although Kessler isn't at his peak any longer I'd still pick him to beat Jr with relative ease). Obviously Maravilla is the main target, but with recent stories that Oscar may be looking at Cotto/ Maravilla vs Lara/ Nelo or the possibility of Sergio retiring that's hardly one to count on, then of course Martin Murray's looking like a virtual certainty for Monaco next spring having signed with the South African promoter who arranges the Monte Carlo gigs.

This is kinda the crux of it isn't it? The majority of people who are insisting that Golovkin needs to fight Ward right now are those who are simply sick of the Golovkin hype and want his fans to shut up and go away. This is also the main reason it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Dre is likely to be the toughest opponent GGG will face in his career, even if he fights 'til 40, and may well hand him a loss. Given that it's kinda important that Golovkin has established himself sufficiently that a loss wouldn't derail his career before taking such a fight and with only 4 US mainstream apparances to date and his name still building it's not at all surprising that Ward is 'one for later' - an opinion that was voiced by Ward himself until the start of the year.

I genuinely find it remarkable that despite having a best win of Matt Macklin those looking for GGG to take a loss only ever come up with one name - that of the best SMW in the world. Really? Surely it'd put the fanboys in their place better to have him beaten up by Kessler or Jr or Froch (all of which would be really tough, competitive and exciting fights IMO)?

Before Kessler I'd like to see GGG doing some more work at 160. Martinez still out there, Chavez, and a few others. If Kessler can shed a few pounds, why not, but there's no reason for GGG to move up just yet.

For all those people crying for a Ward fight... it makes no sense at all unless GGG wants to seriously contend for the 168 throne. Which he doesn't right now. Let the guy earn it first. Let him make some cash with his interesting style. Give him a year or two until, and if the hypetrain doesn't burst until then it means that he's a legit challenger to Ward's crown. Also, Ward should get a little busier. Travel a little, get some exposure. Build that fight up properly.
