I agree with you here actually, he missed a short chopping right hand from Maidana and the straight right hand Mayweather landed at the end of the round. In the slow motion replay by showtime you can see Maidana land it, still a clear Mayweather round. Truth be told though, Mayweather still landed the better and cleaner punches and no justification for calling that a close or Maidana round. If 2014Classic, as extremely bias as he is can call that a clear Mayweather round, I'm sure you can.

Floyd took the 2nd & the 6th round. I also gave him the 12th actually and watched that round 3 times. It was very close but Floyd was the one landing the scoring shots.

Landing scoring shots? This not amateur scoring.

In professional boxing the 4 criteria for scoring is.

Clean hard punching: Harder punches count for more. One big punch can count for more than 10 pita jabs.

Ring Generalship: Fighting the fight where you want it to be. For Floyd is was the centre of the ring for Maidana having Floyd up against the ropes.

Defence: Making your opponent miss or stopping him throwing all together

Effective aggression: The aggressor in the fight but that aggression has to be effective, ie punches land of that aggression. Maidana did this throughout the fight. Even the punches that were blocked were effective because they help develop gaps for the one that got through.

Gave Maidana rounds 1,3,4,5,8,12 and gave round 2 a draw.

Close fight could have gone either way, which makes the 117-111 and the 116-112 score card troubling

that gif is literally the only gif i've seen that shows maidana landing any consistant clean punches. most of the pro maidana gifs i've seen show maidana's shots being blocked or partially blocked.
