Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: Froch vs. Groves Rematch is a 50-50 Fight

Former champion Amir Khan is having a tough time selecting a winner for the upcoming super middleweight rematch between IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch and mandatory challenger George Groves. The first time, last November, Groves dropped Froch in the first round and came close to a major upset before Froch rallied to gain a controversial stoppage in the ninth round. The rematch is set for May 31 at Wembley Stadium in London.

I agree, but I want Froch to win so he can be considered better than Calzaghe. Not that he isn't already, but a loss will hurt his legacy.

Then if Groves wins and Degale pulls through his eliminator vs Gonzalez then the rematch would be epic with genuine rivalry from the amateurs and not some twitter beef that concluded with a boxing match.

So, not even sure whom to support.

Let's get real froch has fought a lot better competition over the last few years that calzaghe never managed In his whole carrier pretty much

But I don't think for one minute Calzaghe wouldn't have slapped the shiz out of froch for 12 rounds.

Shame we didn't get to see the fight

I agree,Calzaghe would have made Froch look even slower than Groves did and would not be there for the shots that Groves took. Joe would win that fight with out doubt by a wide margin.Only a fool would disagree !

Facing anyone like a warrior, though largely thanks to a deeper time of the division and an uncommon tournament, doesn't make Froch as good as is made out.

Calzaghe goes through Froch's resume. The only close fight you could make the case for him losing is Ward.

And I'm sorry,he's another that's been heralded too high too quick.

Froch has 2 losses on his record and could just have easily have 4.

            This.
It's an argument without resolution. Some will point to the resume, others to the hypothetical outcome.

Surely if khan is leaning towards one fighter it's a 60-40 fight.

              .
Calzaghe handled a young and fresh, undefeated Kessler, whereas Froch struggled in TWO fights. Calzaghe is quick, way more talented, deceptive power, can box, can fight-inside, toughness, great chin, etc. Froch is just a tough slow snail.

I don't agree,Froch stopped Groves last fight for petes sake..Weather you agree with the fight being stopped or not..It was clear that Froch started to come on and hurt Groves bad..Froch should be favored, and I think Froch beats the hell out of Groves in this rematch..

The fight was clearly stopped too soon, so I struggle to follow that logic a little bit.

Froch keeps saying he came on strong in rounds 7, 8 & 9 - but he didn't. He clearly lost both rounds 7 & 8 and he was hurt by a jab in round 9 before the round was stopped.

                    It was atrocious refereeing.

Anyways, I agree with Khan. It's a 50/50 fight. You also have to think about the amount of damage Froch took as well as he's 37 or so now.
