Why are past HWs with many losses respected, while modern ones with losses are not?

Arreola and Stiverne's best wins are on par with the fighters you listed worst losses

Well he certainly hasn't ducked any pies or steaks.

Seriously though, it's not the losses in this argument, it's the way these guys like Arreola fight, slow, plodding, boring and losing any time they get to the or near the top.

Plus none of these guys are ever in shape. Plus some of the guys you named from the past aren't exactly top level heavies, they get respect for fighting the best but aren't memorable or top 20 material.

Why do people forgive past heavyweights for their losses and still respect them, yet are so harshly negative about current heavyweights?

          - Bob Satterfield had 25 losses, but is respected
          - Tony Galento had 26 losses (and was shorter and fatter than Arreola)
          - "Gunboat" Smith had 28 losses
          - Jersey Joe Walcott had 18 losses
          - Ezzard Charles had 25 losses

They say "but they beat a good fighter" but that fighter they beat had lots of losses too. And some of the boxers that beat them weren't so good.

Are some people being TOO HARD on modern heavyweights? Do modern boxing fans make too much of a loss on a heavyweight's resume nowadays?

Haven't we all had a some poor days at work, when we are less productive and/or less focused for some reason (the baby was sick and crying all night so we couldn't sleep, some crisis with a teen aged son/daughter, stomach flu, etc).
errrrr............the evidence of their (current HWs) "bumness" is overwhelming.

            Was Tony Galeno in shape?

I think Arreola is in better shape right now than "Two Ton" ever was.

Ezzard Charles is considered a ATG.

Are Floyd Mayweather's best wins on par with Henry Armstrong's and Sugar Ray Robinson's worst losses?

Probably because a throwback gatekeeper HW like Andrew Golotta would destroy 95% of today's HW division.

People always favor the past or the imaginary future because they can just modify it to suit their self-esteem.

The present is a cold slap in the face.
