Broner Banned For a Year by WBO/WBC but is it fair? [POLL]

2 things.

#1 - If it would have been a non black athlete saying the same thing about a black athlete, it would have been a **** storm. The walls would have caved in and they would go after that athlete with pitch forks.

#2 - I think this was a culmination of Broners attitude and actions. He tweeted some racist **** before, his videos, his run in's with the law. I think this was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Where did I compare the Sterling thing to Broner man? Come on your better than that, I never made that comparison.

Second, read my post, I meant what I said and don't give a flying *** about race. My wife is Trini, my sister in law is African American, my nephews are half Mexican and black.

I have never had a racist bone in my body and don't care. The point I made had to do with EQUALITY under this new PC world we live in.

You know damn well, if a white fighter would say something to this effect, it would be completely different. You cannot speak against blacks or ***s in any way or you will be immediately attacked.

Also, this wasn't just about this one thing Broner said. It was a culmination of actions leading up to this. Calling Mexicans w.etbacks on twitter, the videos he's posted, his run in with the law, his cursing rants each and every single time he's interviewed, etc...

He did this to himself, and I feel 0 pity for him. Don't paint me out to be influenced by what the media is telling people. I am just giving you the REASONS of why this happened. It doesn't mean I was offended or even think Broner is a racist.

We live in a different world, you can't say stuff like this or act like this. There is now extreme sensitivity to race, gender and sexual orientation. It is what it is whether you like to see it or not.

okay, first off what he said aint racist imo, guys like Nacho be saying Mayweather and Bradley fight "black" but he aint get banned but Broner get banned for saying he beat up a mexican? wtf is going on in boxing that shi- like this happens? why not deal with corruption like judges awarding gifts or trying to rob fighters like with the 114-114 Canelo Mayweather score or the Maidana - Mayweather 114-114 score. This is ridiculous.

You know if it was Molina saying he beat up a black boxer he wouldn't be getting banned. But The Problem gotta apologize? if he backs down and apologizes he'll lose me as a fan.

Any form racism is detestable, more so in absence of an apology. @AdrienBroner to be suspended by #WBO for 1 year for post fight comments.

Exactly, they have to act quickly about it. Not controlling a seemingly small disrespectful comment can lead to worse comments being made, in retaliation to the unpunished comment and things will just become worse.

I agree with cuahtemoc on this. It is obvious that if a white person or non black would have said the same thing Broner said but instead "Black", the boxer would have been banned by every sanctioning body for 5 years, his license revoked, and attract worldwide news coverage to boxing for racism. It's undoubtedly true that if a white/non black said something like that, he would have gotten punished much harsher.

That's why I think this punishment is fair. I mean what did the WBC say? That Broner is banned for 1 year/until he apologizes? Wow big deal, it hurts Broner so much to publicly apologize, but it doesn't hurt him to call Mexcians w*tbacks publicly on social media.

Angel Garcia said that he's never met a Pakistani who could fight, or something like that. See that's not racist. Even though it gained some attention, and he was accused of being racist for it, it really wasn't racist. If Broner said something like, Mexican fighters are face first brawlers, I would not see that as racist, or even offensive.

Arreola didn't say anything racist, he just said he was Mexican and Stiverne was Haitian. Nothing more and he has no history like Broner does.

Mexican can and cannot denote race. For example, if I say "American" you dont' really think of race because it's such a melting pot of people.

If I tell a police officer that a "Mexican" stole my money, they won't be looking for a blonde blue eyed person...LOL

I agree that what Broner said wasn't necessarily racist, but he's being punished for him calling Mexicans on social media "W.etbakcs" and the other stuff he's done like getting into trouble, the videos, and how everytime he's interviewed he drops 20 F bombs.

I don't see why you people don't ***in get it. It's a HISTORY of his actions and words that lead to this point. PLus I stick by my original premise that if some guy like Kelly Pavlik after knocking out Jermain Taylor was to say;

"I beat that black mother ***ers ass!" Don't for one ***in second tell me that black people wouldn't be OUTRAGED at his comments. That black chick on the View would be talking all kinds of smack, Sp.ike Lee would demand an apology, and Rev. Al Sharpton would be on MSNBC talking about how racism is alive and well.
