He already looks a little pudgy at 147. He's really a 140 fighter who's power allows him to fight at 147. He would have to condition properly so that his stamina won't be worse with the extra weight. In short, if he were to simply move up and fight Canelo, Canelo would bully him and possibly stop him late because Chino's tough.

styles make fights, i dont think canelo is a good one for maidana especially if he would be moving up to take it.

moving up in general is ******, hes got potential rematches with mayweather and broner in the future (i know broner is at 140 for now but still, going to 154 wont make it more likely). not to mention thurman, porter and many others.

WW is still hot and chino has never been a more central part of the division, leaving now would be foolish imo. not only in terms of opposition, but i dont think he will be as effective in the ring either. he doesnt struggle to make 147 as far as i know.

No, I totally understand that Maidana is in a lucrative spot at 147, financially and for some good fights for us fans. This thread is just one of our many fantasy match ups...

i never wanna see this fight, canelo is naturally 2 weight classes bigger, and one of maidanas best assests is his relentlessness, strength and bullying tactics... neither would work on a guy way bigger like canelo. Unfair fight

chino won't go to 154 lbs, he isn't a big welter, you can tell. but if he do, canelo beats him, dude is pretty big for that division. but what if canelo comes down to 147??
