Comments Thread For: Arum: Chavez-Golovkin Dead, Chavez Pact Up in 10/15

What would’ve been one of the most appealing fights of the summer is definitely dead.

Promoter Bob Arum confirmed to BoxingScene.com on Wednesday night that negotiations for the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Gennady Golovkin pay-per-view fight have ceased and that both boxers are headed in different directions. Chavez (48-1-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) was interested in boxing Golovkin, according to Arum, but for an unspecified purse that was more than Arum’s Top Rank Inc. was willing to pay the popular Mexican fighter for facing Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs).

This thread should be devoted to thanking Al Haymon.

Chavez Jr is trying to get paid before he takes that beating from GGG. Can't blame him.

I just want to see these two in the ring fighting. If not against each other, then against other opponents. Why doesn't Chavez fight somebody like winner of Froch-Groves? As for Golovkin, they should try to get Quillin to fight him. If not Quillin, maybe a guy like Sergio Mora.

Just when I had gained some respect for Jr. He is just as afraid as Ward and Martinez are, bunch of cowards.

No reason not to make Ward-Golovkin, then. Both are on HBO, both are in need of fights, Golovkin claims to have no problem moving up, and Goossen isn't letting Ward off the hook anytime soon...

                  Les' do it.
