Thats because Maidana was the only one who tackled and then attempted to knee his opponent.
Maidana raised his knee but never went thru with it nor did it make contact. What you said is like saying "the opponent raised his arm to throw an illegal punch but stopped or didn't actually do it" .... nice joke!

With that tackle, Floyd was holding on like a kid hanging on to his mom's legs and wouldn't let go. Why so much holding by Floyd is the question you should be asking! Why no hard warnings on Floyd?

Floyd was not clean either. How many times is Floyd allowed to elbow/forearm his opponents?

Floyd had a few low blows too. This never gets mentioned.

Again, not saying that Maidana is allowed to do illegal stuff but nor should Floyd be allowed to. Ref calls the retaliation by Maidana but not the initial elbow to the face by Floyd. Come on, man!

If that is every opponents plan, why is it a problem if floyd employs similair tactics in response? I get your point that he should be warned or have a point deducted at times, but again given that stated gameplan of the opponent its not an unreasonable response.

The best example I can give is the Mares was fighting AGbeko (i believe) on the air paulie told us the way a pro deals with repeated low blows not addressed by the ref is a low blow in response.

Is floyd not allowed a to also use proportional response?
he can do what he wants, just making the point that floyd himself isnt exactly a clean fighter.

Kinda contradictory .... in one post you are saying that only Maidana is doing illegal stuff then in the next you say "isn't Floyd allowed to do the same"

Yes , floyd has thrown elbows as has every fighter. My point is simply that you can't suggest dirty fighting is the way to beat a fighter then complain when that fighter is dirty when he is responding with equivalent tactics as a pro is expected to.

I said Maidana was the only one who tackled and kneed his opponent. That is a fact and it was about their specific fight.

Then I made a statement about the gameplan used by almost ALL of floyd's opponent's and how floyd should respond in kind. It was not about the Maidana floyd fight.

i didnt mention anything about anybody other than floyd. whilst he may be a great technician, he gets away with his fair share of elbows, holding and ducking below the waist.

and regarding the maidana fight, if i was maidana id of nutted the **** for refusing me my right to pick my own gloves.

he didnt actually knee him tho!!! there was no contact, a bit like the hatton fight when ricky was deducted a point for hitting the ropes whilst floyd pretended he was damaged!!!

Maidana fought dirty in an attempt to win. Fine with me. Floyd retaliated in a dirty fashion. SHould be fine with you.

You are ******ed.The tackle had nothing to do with holding and the knee could have been penalized. Floyd's low blows were in response to Maidana's, which is exactly how you should reply when the ref doesn't do anything.

Its really simple. Maidana's plan was to fight dirty. Floyd responded proportionally. when they weren't brawling floyd was able to do enough to win.

Thats ridiculous. floyd wasn't allowed to choose his gloves when fighting ODH. He let Manny choose the gloves in 09/10. Floyd examined the gloves and felt there wasn't enough padding. He then exercised his authority.

Floyd has worked hi way up into having that level of power and control and it bothers people.
