If Hopkins defeats Stevenson this year and retires

He would have to rank very, very high on any ones ATG lists...That would be a story Hollywood could not even write

Adonis Stevenson is a tough S.O.B

If Hopkins does win that fight and retires, like you said, that's the stuff of Hollywood.

Nope, it would just mean that he ducked Killa Kov.

Trolling. You set it up too nicely with that thread title.

If Hopkins beats Adonis, it's probably his best win in years.

it would be his best win in a long, long time. stevenson looks like a solid fighter, and has been on a bit of a run.

let's not act like it's goign to cause him to make some drastic leap up the ladder, though. stevenson spent a long time in obscurity in canada. he has a knockout loss to darnell boone in 2010. that's not all that long ago. he didn't yet have 20 fights, but he was a grown man and had been a pro for four years. he's come into prominence mostly off of the knockout of chad dawson, a faded / shot fighter coming off of a loss. he's been fighting fighters who aren't terrific, and looking good / decent in knocking them out.

when you're tlaking about rating fighters against 100 years or so of other boxers, you change your standards.

stevenson's on a nice little run in historic context, nothing more. you should see the years that some of the greatest of all time have had. they sh#t all over the little run pimp steven is on.

is it a solid win? sure. is it bumping him up the top 100 of all time list to any great degree? no.

Good win of course but Stevenson's not that good.

So it wouldn't enhance his legacy too much for me.
