Would have been more risky for Floyd imo, his old man gave him the right advice and work the body, it was not a comfortable win a few swing rounds which would obviously go to Floyd anyway. Very close fight, either man could win or a draw and it would still be reasonable.

Riskier not too. I thought he'd back him off and only fight inside if he was centre ring. He was doing the right thing check hooking backing up, but wasn't pivoting or turning out of the corner to make Maidana reset. Also Maidan can't fight backing up. Obviously it's hard to back a bull up, but that's what he should have done. Floyd barely jabbed upstairs. Jab to the body was good though.

Maidana wore pillows on his hands at Mayweathers inscistence. Even with pillows on his hands, Chino still beat Floyd up and Chino won that fight.

I've ragged on him innumerous times for fighting conservatively but it sucks that he finally gets gritty and people don't have the balls to give him credit for it. It should be clear to any educated boxing fan that he did go to the ropes on his own accord plenty of times. It didn't work out for him, but it's clear that he did try to work that inside game intentionally. If you can't see it, you don't know boxing.
