And by the way, that's definitely a UK thing. Ain't NOBODY in the US talking about Williams, and even less than that are talking about Skelton, and even fewer than that even know who Skelton is. For US boxing fans there is no comparison between the two bouts. It's Lacy-Calzaghe 100%.

....I agree with this post and Lacy/Calzaghe is huge. I have been looking forward to this one and watching the calendar for the last month. BTW Mech, I see someone put you into the red. I'm sure you don't really give a **** but I will get you back into the blue when I come off of 24 probie. That sig of yours is great.

I don't think people over here are bothered about either fight, but Williams/Skelton has been advertised much more than it deserves. If its not Hatton the UK public aren't bothered. Amir Kahn is followed closely as well because of his olympic silver at 17.

Boxing is such a minority sport these days in the UK that only the biggest fighters (Hamed Lewis Tyson Hatton) and hyped olympic medallists get much attention. De la Hoya wasn't even very big over here.

Juyjuy is a wierd ****er no doubt...a little bit here and a little bit there he has done his best to discredit this fight...I dont understand it.

Regardless of what I say or Juyjuy says this is the biggest fight in the Super Middleweight division in over a decade, that alone is pretty ****ing significant, dont ya think Juuj?

Williams Vs Skelton is been talked about more in England then any other fight thats for sure and why not? it's two of our best boxers going head to head, Maybe in Wales it's different but different fights generate different publicity. Personally I'd rather watch Williams/Skelton but Calzaghe and Lacy will be a great fight and i hope to catch that also

              Why not?

Because Calzaghe v Lacy is the unification clash of two unbeaten world champions both with very different questions to answer whereas Skelton v Williams pits a 38 kickboxer against a guy who doesn't seem interested and nearly lost against a guy who wouldn't throw a punch! And theres more, the winner of Williams/skelton is going nowhere, save a beating from one of the substandard HW champions or contenders, the winner of Calzaghe Lacy is heading for the P4P top 10.

No doubt about that statement. The Super Middleweight division is one of the 5 best divisions in boxing, and the Heavyweight division is by far the worst. So to say Williams-Skelton is more significant than Lacy-Calzaghe is absurd. A WORLD title unification bout or the BRITISH Heavyweight championship? Which one do you give a damn about? Skelton and Williams aren't even good enough to become world champs in boxing's weakest division, Calzaghe's held the WORLD belt for years, and Jeff Lacy is gonna take that title, and be dominant for years.

Why is this fight taking place in Manchester?

Why is this fight not happening in Cardiff at the Millenium?

I have to agree with JuyJuy,the English public simply have not been exposed to Joe Calzaghe yet. The first time that the English public were exposed to Calzaghe was his last fight against Evans Ashira that was his first fight live on ITV,and he broke his hand after four rounds then made everybody switch channels. Now,he's fighting at 2 in the morning for ****sake!

Ask the average guy in the street who Joe Calzaghe and they'll probably think your talking about an Italian footballer or something.

Ask the average guy in the street who Chris Eubank is and you'd struggle to find a single person who won't know who he is.

Frank Bruno and Nigel Benn brang so much joy to working class families all over the country, but Calzaghe has no personality,no purpose, and has had his career wasted on SKY TV. Joe Calzaghe might possibly be the most talented British fighter of the last 20-30 years, but lesser exposed than Bruno,Benn,Eubank,Khan,Minter,Conteh,McGuigan,Hame d,even Lennox Lewis, even Michael Watson, even Herol Bomber Graham!

Calzaghes fight against Eubank was very minor, what with Eubank taking it at short notice and Calzaghe being unknown, but Calzaghes fight with Eubank was bigger than this fight with Lacy. Purely because it was Eubank he was fighting, here in England you cant say that this Lacy fight is as big as his Eubank fight. Even in Wales, the Eubank fight was bigger because he was an up and coming Welsh sportsman back then but I think Calzaghe has gone very stale these days even in Wales.

This is what JUYJUY wants to accomplish, by bashing the fight....just another reason to not shut the **** up about his 90's jack-off material.
He even usues an alternate account to do so.
