Its not about whether its right or wrong. Its exactly what Floyd said - he's able to dictate what gloves Maidana uses because he's on the A-Side of the promotion. If Maidana would have won the fight - like some of you people seem to think - the gloves wouldn't have even been an issue. You're only bringing it up because Floyd won and Maidana is crying about it.

Now, in the event where they have a rematch, remember this conversation - I'm certain that there will be some kind of glove stip in the contract, so when Floyd wins again it shouldn't be an issue.

looking at your opponents gloves before a fight is something that happens before every match. the entire purpose of this is that each fighter can inspect the other guys gloves and potentially protest what they would otherwise wear.

its not rare at all for fighters to reject their opponents gloves before the fight forcing them to switch. people just dont make a big deal out of it because it isnt really a big deal, unless floyd is involved. when floyd is involved its always a big deal and if you can somehow twist things to make him look bad then people will do just that.

in reality this is really a non issue, the only story is that team maidana hadnt picked a back up pair before hand in case this would happen.

stop spreading false information. they had several commission approved stock everlast mx gloves and even a pair of cleto reyes. leonard ellerbe said no to every single one because a legit puncher was about to wear them... not because the custom blue ones were defective or tampered with. marquez, guerrero and tmt fighters are ok to wear puncher's gloves doe
