Ever since the Mosley fight, I've noticed Floyd slowly start to slow down-although hardly noticeable. It became noticeable in the Guerrero fight. I saw a shadow of Floyd using his supreme boxing IQ to dominate Guerrero. But all I heard after the fight was that "Floyd hasn't lost a step", or "He's showed no signs of slowing down". I ignored these kind of these comments because I assumed that they meant it relative to his age. He was 36 after all!
But after this fight I've had enough. I can't stand watching Floyd fight anymore knowing what he could have done to these guys in his prime. The haters will undoubtedly say that it has nothing to do with Floyd's age and that Maidana would've caused Floyd trouble even back then. And, that's true...but the fight would look nothing like it did tonight, and you guys know it. It would resemble something like the Hatton fight with Floyd knocking him out late.
I want him to retire. Not because I'm scared he will be beat - I still think he beats anyone 140lbs-154lbs. But I just don't want to see him beat these guys like this. And if he does lose eventually, it won't be like when other greats lose and blame it on his age. Sugar Ray Leonard was 34 when he lost against Terry Norris and I don't think there is a person that would say that would of happened in Leonard's prime..but they will if Floyd loses.
He has nothing left to prove, he should go out on top.
