Comments Thread For: Richard Schaefer Reacts To De La Hoya Press Conference

LAS VEGAS --- Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said his door is always open to talk to Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya, but he was clearly not very happy with De La Hoya's decision to hold a news conference on Saturday afternoon before the Mayweather-Maidana fight.

"I stand by the statement and hopefully we can sort this out in the next couple of weeks," Schaefer said. "But I'm not going to go do press conferences and stuff and talk to the media and (stuff) like that. My door is always open and we'll see where we are going to go."

Hes absolutely right. They should meet man to man and stop doing things through the media. That's how a lot of these issues escalated in the first place.

Just make fights happen, Mr Schaefer. Stop over protecting your fighters. That's all fans want. Madonna loses and he's back fighting cab drivers. Broner loses and he's back fighting Molina. Molina who?

I think Oscar is being hypocritical here. He comes out of rehab wanting to make amends which is good but you won't talk to Schaefer who has been there running your company but you will break bread with Arum who busted your balls just 2 weeks ago? And what about Mayweather? How about making amends with the guy that is actually putting money in your pockets?

Exactly what I stated in another thread ... ODLH really botched his first move by going to the public first, and without speaking with Schaefer. Also, having a closed door meeting with Arum didn't help matters.

            Rookie moves ........

Hopefully they can iron things out ......

Doesn't look good. If Schafer leaves then Oscar is done because Mayweather, Haymon and all of the fighters are going with Schafer and then Oscar has nothing because everyone knows Schafer puts in the work. Dumb move by Oscar. And what does he mean by taking control back? He is the "Golden Boy". Sounds like he has issues with more than he is letting off.

Oscar won't be done. He takes the latino market with him, I guarantee you that.

By control is that a lot of his boxers are signing with Haymon and it's losing control. He's justified by what he's saying if you look at it closely.
