  • Comments Thread For: Thurman Reflects Back on Maidana's Fight Withdrawal

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBA interim-welterweight champion Keith "One Time" Thurman (23-0, 21KOs) reflected back on Marcos Maidana's withdrawal from an HBO televised fight that Golden Boy set for them on July 21 of 2012.

At the time, Maidana was coming off a February lopsided defeat to Devon Alexander. Thurman was an unknown who was making his HBO debut. After initially agreeing to the fight, Maidana decided the opportunity wasn't right and he withdrew. Maidana was replaced by Orlando Lora, who Thurman knocked out in six rounds.

Stfu Thurman you were a nobody back then why would any top fighter fight you?

Best win of Thurman's career is soto Karrass who is a maidana left over.

Exactly, Thurman can look good against c-level opposition with those wide a$$ hooks but he leaves himself wide open and Maidanas gonna put him to sleep.

LOL. They didn't know who he was at first. Then they BoxRec'd him and were like ...HELL NO.

Contursi said he was an undefeated JMW and that's not a tune up, which was true. It's really a shame that Chino has been really busy fighting bigger names. It's OK if Thurman needs to name Maidana to get attention. Is what he has been doing the last two years.

So they said he was too good. Is there a more direct duck?
