It is surprising that Maidana is only slated to make 1.5 mil as a part of the main event. I would have expected more. There are 4 fighters earning over 1 million on a card that is pretty good. If this card didn't have Broner and Khan on it surely Maidana (and of course floyd) would be earning more money.
That said, This thread is confusing. the same people who in other threads have trashed this fight as a glorified sparring session and that Khan/collazzo is the best fight on the card are now arguing Maidana should get paid as a "legitimate" opponent.
If that is what you truly feel about the fight then isn't Maidana's purse about right?
It's evident they're trying to contain their spending in this fight. They threw millions like drunken sailors in the Canelo fight, which is ironic considering Maidana is less popular than the Mexican kid.
They also used Khan to drive Maidana's purse down at an all time low. A deceitful move by the Greedy Team. Maidana had to grab the fight at all costs. Arum does it, too, but not this sharkish.
It's evident that they're kissing Mayweather's ass, while ****ting on everyone else. Don't they realize Mayweather's near the end of his career? Yet they pay him as if he's still in his prime. The myth needs to be dispelled.
He didn't have to sign the contract doe. Right? At least that's what some tards were saying with other fights.
Promoters do the same thing, idiot fanboy. Guerrero sued GBP. Marquez went to hell before being allowed to signed up with TR to get his rematches with Pacman. Khan got punked by GBP and Mayweather. You want some more examples?
Not necessarily, maybe he chose a smaller purse in hopes of more PPV upside. The purse is only what the fighter is paid upon entering the ring, but there is a lot of other money to divvy up later on.
Not for Maidana, there isn't. He isn't seeing jack **** of the PPV upside.
