Probably because they can. I think the Eastern European mentality is a lot different when it comes to matters like revenge in the boxing ring. How can Vitali just walk away from guaranteed millions of dollars and domination of the heavyweight division for as long as he wants just because Lennox Lewis won't fight him? Obviously because he has a different set of priorities. The Klitschkos are very intelligent guys above all else and they have different agendas at work that go beyond their days in the ring, which let's be honest are coming to an end thanks to their ages anyway.

i know damn well i would want to fight the guy that beat my brother
They did it to Byrd, Sanders, Purity. Why do they need to avenge the other's defeat?
This fighting your brother's opponent only gives fuel to the fire...
In reality man...
I actually don't think it has anything to do with revenge outside of the Sanders fight.
Byrd as the W.B.O. champ was defending against Wlad because he was the #1 contender coming off a victory over Monty Barrett, and I think he saw it as a chance to make another payday in Germany.
Why not, he was just there. Except he Underrated Wlad.
