Wlad has longevity but Tyson's resume is better than Wlad's, with an incredible 90 second win over Spinks, wins over the likes of Ruddock and even a mentally ill Golota are better than most of Wlad's opponents. Not to mention a few other top contenders.

But it's not all about resume, Tyson was faster, hit harder, better to watch, better footwork and incredible defensive skills in his prime. He was the complete offensive fighter.

Tyson has a slightly better resume and much better overall skill and natural talent, compared to Wlad's longevity and better skills at fighting on the outside. I'm edging it to Tyson.

        what lists are these?

Also, someone earlier said that Wlad wasn't quite at his best when he lost and I'd agree, partially anyway. I think Wlad was reaching his peak skill wise but still lacked the stamina and guts of a true champion in the Brewster fight.

It was the Sam Peter war that followed which finally brought in the Wlad we know now. His skills were finally coupled in with the heart of a champion, that unbreakable self assurance that no matter how many times a champion is knocked over, he always gets up. Plus his stamina finally made it to the 12th round. That was his forging in fire.

Wladimir is already a top ten ATG heavyweight. The next few years will determine where he rates in the top 5.

You know they thought after the fight was stopped, in the corner, that he had a brain aneurysm or haemorrhage or something, right? That could have been the end of his career and even life right there, I don't think we can question his heart in that fight, although stamina was of course an issue, for whatever reasons (even if only punching himself out).

But, what if, over the next couple years, he fights and beats everyone who rises the ranks as top contenders, namely:

              Fury
              Fury/Wilder/Stiverne
              Pulev
Possibly the likes of Helenius/Boystov/Chisora, if some of these guys can come again

And he looks impressive doing it too.

Does he get a top 10 nod from you, the true boxing fan?

Klitschko nuthuggers or haters need not apply.
If he dominated this way in the 50s. /thread

I've started to contemplate Louis somewhere other than 2 but a lot of research is needed for changes to that opinion.Louis didn't beat a single guy who would be ranked as a top 15 ATG heavyweight and probably had more filler in his resume and is mostly know for his longevity with the title and skill level.
Wlad, especially for his size, is very comparable in terms of skill level with Louis, Lewis and Holmes. Wlad's power is just a level below the real big hitters in Foreman, Tyson and Shavers. Yes, I agree none of the names he will/might beat are great but they are the biggest threats possible, following a series of victories over similar big threats in Haye, Povetkin, Peters and Byrd over the last 14 years. All any fighter can do is beat the best in their era, it's why Marciano is held in such high regards.
I reckon a win over all the guys I originally mentioned would get Wlad a low top 10 ranking.
                LOL at the bolded parts.

wlad would be a top ten atg if he beats larry holmes record no doubt.

i have no problem with wlad fighting leapais of the world. i love it he looks great fighting lower caliber fighters. if he would of beat haye, povetkin and all other of his top wins like that then i would have him as a top 5 atg right now.

It's a risk vs. reward type of thing. He could have stopped either one if he went for broke but then again he may have winded and ended up losing like he did in the Brewster and Purity fights.

I'm sorry but the fact that he never fought and beat his chief rival along with the un-avenged losses keep Wlado out of the top 10...
