Most aren't educated in those matters and don't know where to turn or who to trust. Very few have trustworthy advisers like Ray Leonard had. They figure money matters will take care of itself when it's all said and done.

At the very least, they could seek the advice of the successful fighters who have carefully managed their careers and finances.

No I am not happy about boxing in general but that's besides the point. THe point is that BOXING has been relegated because of pure prizefighting. The promoters rule and there's no single governing body like the NFL, MLB, NBA to standardize testings, unification of belts and more accurate rankings.

Boxers shouldn't be cherry picking and there should be a mandatory defense system for champions with limited time given to defend it or lose it.

I want to see a strong governing body to revitalize the sport.

This is the point! Arum killed Floyd vs. Manny, and we all suffer. Arum killed Gamboa vs. Garcia, and we all suffer. Arum is trying to put the squeeze on Chavez Jr., and now we might not see Chavez vs. GGG. These deals matter. You shouldn't have to agree to re-sign with a promoter in order to get a big fight. If I'm under contract, the promoter's job is to get me the best fights while i'm still under contract. Not tell a fighter (Provodnikov) that an opponent (Rios) can't be trusted to make weight, so go fight some lower level fighter (Algeri) for peanuts, when a big fight (Rios vs. Provodnikov) could've happened. At least don't fault the fighters who don't take the deal (Oscar, Floyd, Cotto) and call them duckers, etc., just because they're smart!

Pac will fight anybody even GBP fighters. The problem is Schaeffer don't want to work with Arum so Oscar should do something about it.
