    Is Mayorga a glorified journeyman?

He beat a prime undefeated Vernon Forrest and again in a rematch. He is a decent fighter, but he is vastly over rated as he always gets in to big fights only to lose. Paulie did all that with one hand.

Fernando Vargas was on his way out and coming off of two TKO losses, so if you think that win means something for Ricardo then I am sure Alfonso Gomez beating Gatti is also something to be proud of.

    So?

No, I think Mayorga was much, much more than a journeyman

"Glorified", so like he is no Emanuel Augustus as he holds such a solid win over Forrest, but besides that he always came up short.

To me, a journeyman is someone who a young prospect fights early on in his career as a learning experience. I didn't see any young 10-0 (hypothetically speaking) jumping in the ring with him.

Mayorga was competitive in damn near all of his fights and in his prime I think he gives trouble to (if not beats) a lot of good fighters

I don't know, but his surname sounds like the name a death metal band.

Agreed. Maybe today hes a journeyman but back in his day he was more than that for sure. You dont beat Vernon twice and have headliners being a journeyman.

Back in the day? Christ sakes it was a decade ago.

Mayorga has 2 wins over Forrrest, Lewis and should've beaten Spinks but was
              robbed

              Augustus was a journeyman

He also beat Andrew ''Six heads'' Lewis and gave Mosley & Cotto both hell.
He gave prime Tito a good argument too from what I remember
Mayorga was a tough SOB who only lost to the best, future HOFers and always gave a respectable account of himself.

I used the term "glorified" journeyman and not just journeyman. He did beat Forrest twice, which is great, but really he lost all meaningful fights.

Lewis was not a win to brag about.
