You have to understand Shaffer is just blowing smoke here. He's just saying what the fans want to hear. He has no intention of making Broner-Matthyse especially after seeing what Maidana did to Broner neither do Haymon knowing he wants to keep Broner relevant with Floyd's career winding down. Heck he won't even make Broner-John Molina and after seeing Molina against Mattyhse last night, you can understand why they picked the softer Molina. They would keep Broner away from punchers for as long as possible.

I'm very leery of Schaefer, but I must say, some of the stuff he's been saying lately and fights that he has suggested in the media make me think he really is a true fan that genuinely would like to see these fights go down. I started to scratch my head after the Matthysse-Garcia matchup was made, and recently with his suggestions of Porter-Thurman, Porter-Mayweather and now Broner-Mathysse - he really might be going back to the model of pushing for the good fights. I'm eager to see what's next. The cold war sucks - if we could just keep it to a network war between SHO and HBO and let the fighters fight on both networks, what an exciting time it would be.
