In Cotto-Malignaggi, I think this is a really good fight for both guys. Both guys seem to be perfect foils for each other. Malignaggi is the slick speedster with quick hands, while Cotto grinds down his opponents with patient aggression. The good news is that Malignaggi is very confident and believes he can beat Cotto. Not even Branco thinks he has a shot. I truly believe that Branco's waiting for a big shot so he can lay down. But on the issue of cupcakes and tomato cans, Malignaggi hasn't fought any world beaters himself. I would still prefer to see him in there with a Carlos Maussa or something first, but if he thinks hes got it, do it.Comment

Enough about Paulie already...
I had just complimented one of your threads, Bloodshed, and then I see this. Malignaggi will get his ass handed to him, probably a KO around the 5th round, and will be exposed as nothing more than a flash in the pan. The only hole I've seen in Cotto is that he has a suspect chin. That will not be a factor in this fight, because Paulie has very little power. Paulie's not that good defensively, and Cotto will annihilate him, especially if he can get inside. Paulie may run, which might allow him to last to the latter rounds. This guy has fought nobody, and isn't a tenth as slick as he thinks he is. I've seen like 20 threads on this guy in the last week, and it shocks me how overhyped he's becoming on this forum. He will never be more than a guy that good boxers fight for a tune-up.Comment

He's by no means a 1 dimmensional fighter. He is highly diverse....and will stalk, out-manuever, and land huge bombs on Paulie.
He's a hell of a fighter...and I really can't say the same about malignaggi. He has not been tested against remotely decent opposition.
Couldnt have said it any better.
It really disturbes me that people will sacride fighters that just come on the the "scene" so to speak. How many of paulies fight have been nationally televised? Im not sure myself, but Jesus, it seems as if everyone jumped on Paulies **** after his fight on espn.Last edited by Gio; 02-21-2006, 02:54 PM.Comment
