This is a ppv caliber fight, and probably the best matchup to make comparing all the other ppv main events...

    Juarez-barrera
    Morales-manny 3
    Manny-rios
    Floyd-Ghost
    Dawson-hopkinn
Those are all crap main events on ppv

I dont see how matching 2 prime undefeated champions in the ring is not ppv caliber...
Its a great matchup, but people wanna dismiss it because Ward cant draw, kovalev is unknown, yada yada yada,,,,

I will take this main event over any ppv main event over the past year

Fans would actually get their money's worth with this fight,
Your heart is in the right place but nothing you have written here validates this fight being on PPV. It simply would not be PPV. This isnt how it works.

Ward has almost zero fan base and has never sniffed a PPV card. Kovalev is even less popular. Goossen and/or whoever promotes Kov would never make their money back if they put this on PPV. Its a far safer, and profitable, play to sell the fight to HBO for a Championship Boxing telecast.

The only reason I could see HBO trying to make a PPV event out of this is to entice Ward to take a dangerous fight. They know it won't sell though, so they wouldn't risk it. Regular broadcast only.
HBO doesnt make PPVs...the promoters do. HBO airs the fight, the promoters own it.

Ward would call out the old man. He knows just like the rest of us, any young, real fighter worth his salt sends pophop into retirement.

So you don't think the networks have anything to do with the decision making process in condsidering making an event PPV? Further, you don't believe the networks invest money in making PPVs? Who has the deeper pockets, fight promoters or premium network tv channels? I think it's a collaborative effort.

You can research it yourself. I dont make the rules. Its pretty interesting.

The networks definitely have a place in the process but promoters run the show. They take on all the responsibility and costs.

Remember when you watch a PPV event you aren't watching HBO or SHO, you are watching your cable provider's PPV channel. The cable companies take about half of the revenue. The networlk would rather have regular broadcasts where they can buy and air the fight on their network.

I tried to find something on the process, but could not. I do know that PPV fights are advertised as the network's PPV ("Live, on HBO PPV", ect.) My point is, HBO wouldn't risk Ward vs Kovalev as a PPV event, and would rather make it a regular broadcast event. I think we agree on that.

This was after the Cloud fight?
They exchanged words (B-Hop was still in the ring), but I couldn't hear what they said... The guy from the TV channel said that Ward called and Hopkins refused...
