Comments Thread For: Thurman Would Love To Move Up and Fight Canelo

Keith “One Time” Thurman is patiently waiting for his name to continue getting bigger in order to get the big fights in the Welterweight division. He plans to put on a show Saturday night as he takes on veteran Julio Diaz in the main event in Carson, CA at the Stub Hub Center.

While the welterweight division is the glamour division of the sport and houses some of the biggest names, there’s also plenty happening 7 pounds north. Thurman isn’t exactly a small 147 pound fighter and judging by his physique, it’s easy to imagine him fighting as a Junior Middleweight.

Keith is one of the most exciting and promising fighters in the WW division. That is where his focus needs to be, Canelo won't be at 54 anymore after his fight with Lara. He's already having trouble making the weight.

Would rather see Thurman face Matthysse, Broner, Maidana, Khan, Collazo, and any of those guys in any order.

Thurman needs to refine his skills more before doing this and I don't think Canelo is gonna be a LMW for long.

good fight. Canelo via UD. Canelo beats any welterweight not named Floyd.

IF Canelo beats Lara, he should be looking for:

              1) A rematch with Floyd at the full 154.

              2) A bout with Cotto at 154, IF Cotto beats Martinez.

              3) A bout with Martinez at 160, IF Martinez wins.

Keith Thurman is a day late and a dollar short. He should look for Porter/Brook or Khan/Collazo winners.

He'd have to move up to 160 cause Canelo is not long for 154. Either way, I see Canelo stopping Thurman.

I need to see Nelo against Lara before I call him the real deal..I respect Nelo's heart though as he seems to really want to fight the best..He ****** against Floyd, should have gotten no more than a draw against Trout, and most of his opposition was against older and smaller men so I can't say right now that he's the man.

Thurman looks like a solid prospect but there is nothing about his game that makes me think he beats Canelo at any weight.
