An older pacquiao is still a dangerous pacquiao

    From examiner.com

When I watched Manny Pacquiao throttle Timothy Bradley for the second time a few weeks ago, I noticed a few subtle changes in his attack. I've been asked about 20 times by fans if I thought that Manny Pacquiao had lost a step. The answer to that question is YES.

The Manny Pacquiao that I saw beating on Timothy Bradley was not the beast from the East that I remember say 7 or 8 years ago. That said, even an older Manny is still a very dangerous Manny. Father time sooner or later gets every fighter. Manny is not a 20 year old fighter anymore. He's in his mid 30's and heading towards 40 in no time.

The fact that Pacquiao has faded a little bit doesn't mean that he's easy prey for other fighters. The current Pacquiao as we all saw a few weeks ago can still box the socks off of just about anyone put in front of him. In fact, it's actually very impressive how Pacquiao has rebounded from that brutal knockout that he took against Juan Manuel Marquez. The fact that he's been able to bounce back and fight impressively speaks volumes.

Recently there's been some buzz about Bob Arum and Oscar de la Hoya. Allegedly the two have spoken about a possible Canelo Vs. Pacquiao fight. I think this is the best fight for Manny, other than of course a bout Vs. Mayweather. Manny's stock is solid, and Canelo's isn't too shabby either. This fight would draw well, especially if it were held in Mexico. Pacquiao Vs.Mayweather is still just a dream that probably won't happen, so until he retires, Manny will have to fight other names. Canelo would be an interesting fight.

So what's different about Manny's fight game these days? Well the first thing that I noticed is his movement. Although it's still good, it's not quite as sharp as it was in years past. The first thing to go is a fighter's legs. Manny's legs aren't shot by any stretch, but they have faded just a touch. He doesn't move quite as fast as he used to. I also noticed a slight decrease in punching power. He's not hitting quite as hard as in years past. Does this mean he's dipped from elite fighter to average fighter? Hell no. Even a slightly faded Pacquiao is better than 99 percent of other prime fighters. Manny is THAT good.

Pacquiao in my opinion has 3 to 4 fights left in his career. Time will tell weather or not the last one will be Vs. Mayweather, but at this point? Who cares? I just want him to go out on top, and to go out healthy.
I agree. And I think Pacquiao losing his legs equals to Pacquiao using his brains more.

That's a good article, Pac has declined a bit; but he can still beat top guys at 140-147. He is more cautious but can still bust your ass.

But how would a Canelo fight work? Canelo can't even make 154

Pac has underrated boxing abilities. Even a faded Pac can move so fast in a fight that sometimes we always failed to see those little great things he does there. Pac is a master of angles, turning his opponents in a awkward positions, foot positioning and timing.

He is good at keeping at the right distance from his opponent punches while he can close the gap very fast when he attacks or countering. He is the best of timing his opponent jabs while slipping his own over the top accurately. Using his hands as measuring his stick while acting at the same time as a defense. He is also very good at arms blocking as defense. The Marquez ko taught him a very good lesson and he is evolving now as a puncher-boxer.

Aren't you that bum who claims he's an undefeated amateur in his couch potato rec center league? Does it piss you off that a low IQ'd Manny Pacquiao's lint underneath his toenails gonna finish out with more legacy than you'll ever have?

Saying this comment makes you an idiot with no IQ at all. Pac is the only 8 weight divisions champ and 4 lineal divisions champ in the world. Saying he has a low IQ proves you are a floydiot alt.

That nobody just mad because Manny's daughter's piggy bank got more money in it than Chalino got in his entire bank account saved up from 32 years of mopping floors and putting french fries into a deep fryer at burger king

Great analysis / post...thats why i kept telling people Bradley didnt hurt his ankles, then now his calf from NOTHING! Pacquiao himself caused Bradley to always injure himself, cuz Pac is pressing him in different type of ways leading Bradley to wobble all over. Bradley dont get hurt like that against any other fighter

I don't want to see PAC-Canelo. Weight difference is out of range now.
I want to see PAC go after someone like Thurman, Brook, or Porter. Take another fighters 0 away, but giving them a possibility for Superstardom. All those after JMM5.. I really need to see PAC beat him clearly for once, clearer than fight #2..

3-4 fights is okey, I would prefer 2-3, 1 more fight this year and last 2 next year, IMHO Manny should not fight beyond 2015
