    Thanks for the replies guys...

Interesting about Marciano, never knew that.

Did B-hop have any amateur experience? Or straight out of prison?

You probably didn't know that bit about Marciano because it's completely untrue...He had twelve very well documented amateur fights and won eight of them, including his winning of the 1948 New England AAU championship by defeating George McGinnis in the final matchup of the tournament.

P.S. Great call on Chandler, Jabs, as that was the first "limited amateur experience" fighter that came to mind when I saw this thread.

Marciano's boxing record in the Army was "allegedly" 30-0, but that's only someone's guesstimation as to what it was.

But his official fight-by-fight amatuer record can be found in many different sources, including the IBRO, the CBZ, Skeehan's bio, etc., etc., etc...All list it at 8 wins and 4 losses.

For real. Chandler was a joy to watch.

b-hop boxed when he was younger as an amatuer before he got locked up

and as far as boxers coming straight out of prison, there are boxing gyms and prisoners do learn how to box through coaches, they also have tournaments and the like in prison systems so they're not just a bunch of tuff macho dudes who got locked up and learned how to fight like that.

fighting and boxing are two different things

Morrison always used to say this, but it is not true. He had over 200 Amatuer fights and fought in the Finals of the Nationals Golden Gloves against Ray Mercer. He used this lie as a gimmick.

Cintron fought in the 2000 EASTERN U.S. Olympic Trials (losing to Rudy Cisneros), Tyson won several national amateur tournaments (including National JO's, National Golden Gloves and the U.S. Under 19's), and HASIM Rahman had amateur fights. Marciano had much more than just 3 amateur fights and definitely didn't lose all of them, either. Morrison fought in national tournaments, WON the 88 Western Trials and then lost to Mercer in the US Olympic trials the same year (NOT in the finals of the NGG). Hopkins fought amateur, mostly as a junior olympian (under 16).
