Personally I'd like to see Caesars Palace get back in the mix. Maybe a state-o-the-art renovation. Many a great memory for fight fans in that arena.

That said… Venue's really don't matter. Great fights matter. And for MGM to let go of Arum is completely their loss.

Mandalay Bay is a MGM property.

FWIW a lot of companies carry long-term debt like this and it does't really speak about the profitability of a company, especially one like MGM Resorts who builds and finances multi-million dollar properties around the world. To constantly fund these projects the company issues unsecured notes for people to buy that will be paid back with a certain percentage of interest. So the numbers sound much worse than they are since the 13.4 billion figure it talked about in this 2 year old article is long term debt that is due over many many years.

In fact MGM Resorts is actually in pretty good shape at the present time and their stock price has risen significantly in the past year. See this article for more details http://www.reviewjournal.com/columns...ty-mgm-resorts

So please don't let Bob Arum's lap dogs paint a much worse picture of MGM than is reality.

Arum crossed the wrong one this time. He's so old he doesn't have any ****s to give it seems. We'll see what happens when the money starts talking.

That is what a clearly biased and irate Arum said, so I would take it all with a grain of salt.

If they are really hemorrhaging money like that a few boxing events are not gonna help them.

Exactly. If they pushed the Pacquiao fight to their bigger property it's on them.

There would have been no conflict with Mayweather-Maidana at Mandalay Bay.

They aren't, the company posted hundreds of millions in profits last quarter. They are in debt because of loans they have taken out to fund projects that cost hundreds of millions of dollars, not because they aren't making money.
