It doesn't matter if you "don't really" recognize him lineal or not because it's factual that he IS the lineal champ at 175.

It's not any more factual than saying Ward is the 2x lineal champ. He beat Dawson, and he beat Edwin, who beat Grachev, who beat Erdei who was the lineal champ. I believe someone even made a thread about it.

It does suck, but I bet Showtime wouldn't sign Kovalev in order to set up a fight with either Stevenson or BHop even if they could. They stand to make much more money milking Stevenson & BHop than risking Kovalev destroying them both.

Erdei moved up to crusierweight, thus vacating the lineal throne at light-heavyweight. Thereafter, the lineal throne can only be contested between the number 1 and 2 fighters in the division. These 2 were Dawson and Hopkins.

Kovalev will build his own legacy. Maybe some persons like Ward will move up. Yet if noone wants to fight him at LHW, he can move to CW. Yep, he doesn't want it, but still he can make it.

You would have a point except Kathy Duva said the most important thing was getting KOvalev a long term deal with HBO. Obviously if he went to showtime they would act just like HBO did and try to maximize dollars.

So if Erdei lost the "lineal" title for moving up in weight and still winning, then why doesn't Dawson lose the "lineal" title for moving down in weight and getting decimated?
