Danny Garcia: "1 more fight at 140"

Someone please try and explain this to me, last night on the Showtime broadcast, Garcia claimed that he would have one more fight at light welter before moving up to 147...if a fighter is already planning two fights ahead and planning on moving up in weight, why does he bother having one more fight at the lower weight? It's not as if there is a big payday waiting for him.

Matthysse ran off and is currently hiding somewhere in Latin America so the rematch is out of the question. The Peterson fight is just a waste, hope it doesn't get made. The only fight left for him at 140 that I give a damn about is against Provodnikov and he's on a whole different network, so why one more fight?

I don't get it, someone explain.

now why is the peterson fight a waste? that's the best fight that can be made at 140, Danny might not take it though, I think it's a bad match-up for him too.

Maybe he wants to work on a few things before he moves up to prepare for Mayweather. I cant imagine him having a tune up at 147.... if he loses he is out of the sweepstakes

Peterson is a good match-up, definitely not a given that Garcia wins. I do agree that he should move up to WW asap. IDK why he won't just move up, as it seems that it's becoming tougher to make 140. He looked slightly drained against Matts and Herrera, so why would that pattern change in his next 140lb bout?

Some of you think Peterson is a good match up I can't get behind it. This guy is a drug cheat who should have had his title stripped but managed to keep it...even when he lost to Matthysse. Ridiculous, I don't want him getting anymore pay days and let me guarantee you this, if the fight does get made, he will get schooled by Garcia.

I'd rather Garcia move up to 147 and fight some fringe contender, get an easy win than waste time at 140.
