Jonathan Guzman is a good fight (for his last fight) after this he should have no problems with jumping ship.

Is he related to Joan Guzman?

Hope he doesn't have trouble making weight.

Indeed, I don't think he ever wanted to make that fight but he kind of got his hand forced with the Mares situation.

He certainly doesn't have much use for him now, especially at the price he is guaranteed.

I don't buy this conspiracy because there's no way he though Donaire beating Rigo was anywhere near a sure thing. While I'm sure some of it was just partially bitter smack talk over Donaire trying to leave him, he even said so as much that Rigo could beat Donaire during that time. There was zero need for Arum to sign/build up Rigo just so he could give Donaire a chance to fight a high risk/low reward reward fighter that nobody cares about in a boring fight. Why can't Arum make a fight between to the best fighters in a a division all the hardcores were asking for without a sinister motive?

I'm sure he ideally he was hoping Donaire would win because he obviously has more upside, but that's completely different from arum having this evil master plan that backfired people keep on going on about.

true but if that fight was close the judges were going to give it to donaire. rigo easily beat him and look at the scorecards, they were close

Arum isn't a ****** businessman. Why would you sign a 122 pound fighter, who is 33 years old, speaks no English, is a pure boxer and has no natural fanbase to a multi-fight contract with a minimum purse of a half of a million dollars? He loves Rigo and did it out of the goodness of his heart? Rigo is making more money than guys like Golovkin who generate huge ratings and fill seats.

It wasn't an evil master plan but I think the ultimate goal was to eventually shelf him using his high contract minimum as the excuse. That or force him to renegotiate after taking a loss.

Rigo should go to Gbp. He'll get less but he can become undisputed

He also might get less per fight, but he could do better per year if he fights more often.

Like he is making 500 grand for a fight is great and a decent years living, but if you fight twice making 350k per you are doing better and if you can get 3 fights a year that is a lot better.
