Fans wanted Alvarado-Pacquiao, Top Rank gave them Rios-Pacquiao.
Fans wanted Rios-Provodnikov, Top Rank gave them Provonikov-Algieri
Fans wanted Garcia-Gamboa, Top Rank gave them Garcia v Top Rank
Meanwhile GBP provided Garcia-Matthysse, FMJ-Canelo, Broner-Maidana.
Chavez-Golovkin in jeopardy now too.Last edited by Weebler I; 04-16-2014, 11:46 AM.Comment

On balance he is a positive force, he invests a bunch of money into the lower end of the sport all the way through the top end and had a hand in building many top end guys. Also while guys may make more leaving him after they get over the hump, he still does and has made guys a lot of money.
Still Arum like anyone in the boxing game does messed up stuff and while he will back up his guys that only goes as far as they are useful to him. The people who have done best with him have an independent streak, because you have to keep an eye on him (at the very least).Comment

3 of those fights were in 2012, another 3 in the early part of 2013.
Cotto-Martinez is a good match-up but how much of that came from Cotto's own personal ambition? Cotto only signs one-fight deals so Top Rank had to go with what he said or he'd have fought Canelo with GBP.
I have no personal preference if they delivered the fights but it seems GBP are listening to the fans, Canelo-Lara another recent example.Comment

You can stop pretending GBP is this saintly promotion house that makes the best fights. That is fantasy talk. Quillin/anyone, Russell/tba, Wilder/cab drivers? Khan/diaz/molina? Floyd/Guerrero/Maidana? This is what fans want? GB has a lot more fighters that are ready for premium fights and they have done a nice job but they arent completely listening to fans like you say.3 of those fights were in 2012, another 3 in the early part of 2013.

And stop trying to dump water on Cotto v Sergio. Who is promoting the fight? TR. Period. They arent batting a thousand but you are clearly p*ssing in their cereal on purpose and not comparing equally. You should know the difference between leveraging your assets and avoiding the best matchups. I think both act very similar because they both know idiot fans will perpetuate low risk fights.Comment

Bob as a promoter is good for boxing. He has been part of some of the very best fights in history. He and his team are the very best at developing fighters-matchmaking, PR are top notch.
Bob, as a man, is not. He runs his business effectively but ruthlessly. He steals from his fighters. He delays fights until his profit is maximized even if it hurts the fighters reputation. As we've seen with floyd, cotto and ODH, leaving him allows you to earn a significantly higher amount.
As with anyone you take the good with the bad. I though, will not miss him.Comment
