The guy has been in the business for 30-40 years. He's given us some of the best fights in boxing history. His business style seems to be a bit 'old school'. But what do you think, good or bad for boxing?
As far as the topic is concerned, all promoters are causing the sport the same amount of negativity and positivity. As long as there is money involved, there will always be problems and obstacles. Look at Guerrero with GB, Ward with whoever it is that promotes him, Mikey with TR, etc etc.
The true enemies in boxing are greed and egos and those are part of the business world, not boxing alone.
Bob Knows his stuff, but he doesn't really have enough high profile Fighters to match with each other like GBP. Thats why he keeps on having fighters fight each other 3 or 4 times.
Obviously he has been a hugely important and influential figure for the sport. I feel like he hasn't really kept up with how media has advanced though. The long time radio broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers, Bob Uecker, has joked that with widespread access to the internet he can no longer tell half of his great baseball stories. Arum's ability to sensationalize fights and really sell them to the public has suffered a similar fate. They just don't have the leeway to bullshit like they used to. Arum has been good for the sport, no more or less corrupt than other promoters. He is a relic from a more majestic age of boxing.
Very we'll put guys. I'm a bit busy right now so can't chime in on everything. But I think it's a good topic. NSB has gone full ****** this week. I thought I'd try a somewhat new subject
@ golovkin, **** you. I'm never making an AVI bet again...
