He wasn't fat, but they did realize they didn't know how well Maidanas body would fill up to the full WW limit even doe he is a big guy. That was one of the reasons they decided to skip on the Thurman fight and picked Alexander instead. They did not want to fight a bigger guy not knowing if Maidanas power would go up. Its quite easy to see the difference between the Maidana that first fought Alexander and the Maidana that fought Lopez, Broner. I just hope Maidana goes balls to the wall and puts it all on the line. I hear you and I think Maidana will surprise alot of people with how well he does. He was moving up yes but maidana himself has said he got careless with food before devon and was contemplating retirement as well. In addition he had a stand in trainer because rudy perez was very ill. It was a very very low energy "camp" if it could be called that at all. He was of course not fat by normal standards certainly but fat for one who wants to be champion.

I agree marcos has gotten better ... but not nearly enough to beat a mayweather.

Sure a punch can change history, but floyd has proven that its the toughest guy to hit with a lucky punch.

He might be akward and throw good combos but floyd footwork its superb, broner didnt move all night long.

I also predict a 118/119/120 scorecard for Floyd.

Whoever doesn't give Maidana a chance doesn't know the sport of boxing. ONE punch can change a fight, one instance could be all it takes; ask Chavez Sr. History reminds us that if there is one sport where anything can happen, it's boxing. The fight game, the game of punches. Maidana throws some of the most awkward shots and combinations in the sport, far from textbook form which makes preparation against them hard to accomplish.

If you can't see the punch, it hurts that much more and Maidana does enough damage as it is. This will be a rare wild bull chasing a matador who has experience but not against this type of breed that hail from the

a quick look at the numbers reveals floyd's last 120-108 type of showing was marquez and before him baldomir. Even Ghost was a 117-111. Now, Chino is superior to Baldo in all categories. Marquez on the other hand is good, but only if allowed to fight his fight. He cant exactly fight coming forward all that well. Aside from that, The assertion that Floyd will win all 12 rounds when he classically takes a few rounds to get into his rhythm and figure out his opponent and takes random rounds off to showcase defense is real real dumb and blindness at its finest.

I also can see maidana maybe winning a couple of rounds, but mainly because of activity not because of efectivness.

But winning?? men i just dont see it. A lost bullet chance its too slim with a guy as slick as floyds.

For Maidana to win he's going to have to throw and land a home run punch accurately at the same time when Floyd makes a mistake or is throwing his own shot. It's possible, but not plausible. Floyd TKO in rd 8,9 or 10

Man I hope Loaded is right about him potentially taking Floyd into deep waters, and no doubt I think Maidana is the man. Dude is a pure fighter to the 100th degree.

But I just think really sound, technical, pure boxers who can move are just beyond what he can handle. Doing it to a statue like Broner is one thing, but Floyd (or Bradley like discussed in that other thread) is a bad match up for Marcos. Well IMO at least.
