PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Future Hall of Famer and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins worked out in front of a throng of reporters Thursday at DSG Boxing Gym in Philadelphia as he winds down preparation for his Saturday, April 19, World Championship Unification against Beibut Shumenov.

If he beats Shumenov and then fights Stevenson win or lose i'd like to see him retire. He keeps on winning though so it's hard to say that's it but better to walk out of the sport than be carted out.

It's amazing but it's also kinda sad when u think about it. Come on, the guy is almost 50! How are these guys losing to him??? I get it, he's a great boxer but it's amazing men in their primes are losing to a man his age. It's crazy IMO. Props to him but ****, I think it's embarrassment to the sport of boxing in a way.

I hope people truly realize what they are getting when they have the opportunity to see this man continue to fight. Every win is a new page in the history books.

They did an interview with Hopkins many years ago. And he said the reason he's easily able to beat many of these young bucks, is because many of these young guys aren't learning the game the right way. He said many of these guys are fighting twice a year, having long layoffs, getting out of shape, and not working on their technique.
Back in his early days fighters fought more often or where in the gym all year round, staying in shape, controlling their weight, sparring and perfecting their craft.

Makes sense when you think about it. Some of these guys with these long layoffs spend so much energy just making weight they don't spend nearly enough time, working on their skills.
