Bob is burning one big ass bridge by going ape shit like this so publicly, right or wrong.
It makes me laugh when people make idiotic, know-it-all comments like this. WHO CARES if MGM has 8 of the 10 highest grossing gates of all times. MGM is not the ***** government who picks and chooses who gets favored. MGM operates in the free market where it needs to make money or go by the wayside. MGM is the vendor, TR is the buyer. Who loses money if the buyer goes elsewhere? MGM! Who loses money if the vendor does not sell? MGM! It is MGM that is burning 'one big ass bridge' as you eloquently say. I would not be surprised if other casinos are chomping at the bit for Arum's business. This is very basic business stuff. I'd think twice about opening a business if I were you.

the upside for bob on this far outweighs the downside. I expect that MGM will come looking to win back Top Rank events with Jerry Jones, Adelson et al all competing. Bob wins!

I'm sure the Vegas casino's is chomping for Manny vs Jessie Vargas fight or Mike Alvarado or even Terence Crawford. The reason Jerry World hasn't hosted many fights is because it's so big that you can't charge high dollar prices for all the seats making your live money short it's fine to 60k show up but only make 6 million dollars when the MGM seats 16k and can make 20 million.

MGM owns 1/3 of the casinos in las vegas. they own casinos around the world. foxwoods in CT, the largest casino property in the states when i checked last, is an MGM property.

i stayed at a bum**** casino in reno for a night after my tahoe trip, and it was owned by MGM.

that is not a bridge you want to burn if you're a boxing promotor.

we may be witnessing the end of bob arum. he's in his early - mid 80's now. his best fighter, pacquiao, is aging. his billing is shrinking.

they'd surely be willing to work on their relationship with arum if they saw value in it.

They're the ones who asked to Pac there in the first place.

How is there no value in making more money?

how do you know they're making more money by catering to arum's needs, or that they turn money away when they focus their efforts on GBP? they aren't ****** enough to turn more money away, and they know much better the details of their operations than we do. these are calculated moves based on business, not personal relationships.

TR and goldenboy are competitors. it's actually quite rare for businesses to work with people who compete directly.

bob arum is 82 years old. his promotional company appears to be on its last legs. manny pacquiao is aging quickly, and arum has no young stars.

catering to the needs of showtime and goldenboy exclusively may have been deemed more important than continuing a relationship with arum.

this may be posture, and they may renew a relationship. it appears to me as though it isn't posture, and that MGM wants to move in another direction. goldenboy is a strong promotor right now, and a prolific producer of top billed boxing matches. having their favor has value. MGM discontinuing a relationship with arum damages him, and benefits goldenboy.
