I think Clottey would have to put in some body work to really make him gas.

I'm still amazed though that Ishida isn't a big puncher.....and Kirkland took bombs and bombs from other opponents, sometimes only going down once.

Yea it is an outlier when looking at Kirkland's career for sure, so i kind of write it off but I do think he is more susceptible to counters which is not exactly unique to him, he might be able to take a full head on blast from a guy but a weaker counter shot would hurt him sort of deal.

Although like I said Clottey isn't really a counter guy he is either attacking or defending, but if Kirkland throws a lazy jab (or whatever really) even Clottey might be able to counter that

                    Clottey will win by Knockout.

clottey has an iron chin, strong double guard defense.

Kirkland has a glass chin, he only has punching power, heart and high workrate going for him.

Like I said it is not like Kirkland would be alone on that boat, it does always look odd when a guy takes full on hard shots gobbling them up like nothing then the gets tagged good with a counter but nothing that looks like those other shots and is totally done for.

That would be my explanation of that conundrum anyway
